Kelly A. Donohue is a 2000 graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in Neurobiology and Physiology. Kelly graduated second in her class from the University of Baltimore School of Law where she was also recognized as the Distinguished Scholar for her work in the University of Baltimore Civil Advocacy Clinic.

Since completing her formal education, Kelly has practiced in the areas of medical negligence, nursing home neglect, catastrophic personal injury, and property damage litigation. Kelly also represents and counsels business clients in various litigation as well as managing pre-litigation risk including contract drafting and insurance coverage.

Kelly began her career at Goodell, DeVries, Leech & Dann, LLP in Baltimore, one of Maryland’s largest and most prestigious medical negligence defense litigation practices. Kelly spent 12 years defending multi-billion-dollar health care systems throughout Maryland as well as individual health care providers.

Kelly’s practice is dedicated to the representation of injured parties in cases of medical and nursing home negligence, auto collisions, and other personal injury litigation. Her extensive experience defending hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals equips her with a unique understanding of how medical malpractice and other negligence actions are defended, allowing her to stay one step ahead of her opponents. She has recovered millions of dollars for her clients.

Kelly’s accomplished career as a litigation attorney has been consistently recognized by her peers, who voted Kelly a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2010 and then for eight consecutive years. She was also recognized as 2018 America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators and 2019, 2020, and 2021 Maryland Super Lawyers.

Kelly was awarded the 2018 Leading Women’s award by “The Daily Record”. The Leading Women recognition is awarded based on an honoree’s professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to inspiring change.

In addition to her legal practice, Kelly is a published author, having co-authored two consecutive editions of the Tort Law Desk Reference, Maryland Chapter. She was an active member of the Maryland Association for Justice and Legislative Leaders Circle where she regularly testified before the Maryland legislature, advocating for the rights of injured parties. In recognition of that work, Ms. Donohue was awarded the Robert Zarbin Legislative Advocacy Award in 2019.
